• What’s involved:

To conduct criminal litigation on behalf of the Council, advocating in the relevant courts in relation to those proceedings.

To advise clients in all aspects of criminal court procedures, including advising on all aspects of investigations and prosecutions including PACE, and RIPA.

The role will carry a prosecution caseload for client departments across the council.

Possibly acting as legal adviser to the licensing sub-committee (licensing panel), on occasion, which often takes place outside normal office hours, including Gambling Act panels, and to conduct and advise on appeals against panel decisions.

Possibly may include some limited civil work.
