A fantastic opportunity to join a leading insurance provider as an Assistant Development Underwriter
You will assist with the development of underwriting philosophy and procedures
Continuously monitor industry best practice and recommend changes
Monitor monthly MI and reports and determine if further investigation of abnormal trends is required
Complete ad hoc reviews of processes, advisers or case types where potential problems are identified
Work closely with other areas (for example Claims, Actuarial, Administration) to develop a thorough understanding of the business and contribute to "best practice" overall.
Underwrite Life, Critical illness, TPD, IP, and MPPI when required within an agreed level of authority and within service standards
The successful candidate will haveā¦
A subject matter expert in the field of Underwriting and demonstrates competence in both the breadth and depth of their technical knowledge and expertise.
At least 5 years experience of underwriting substandard lives across all product lines.
Experience of guiding and supporting others in the field of Underwriting.
Ability to understand and interpret financial evidence and accounts. Ability to produce MI reports and interpret the underlying data.
Knowledge and capability with Microsoft Office Suite & power point skills, and the ability to use online underwriting manuals are essential. An understanding of expert underwriting systems and underwriting rules development is desirable, ability to learn how to develop rules is essential.
You will be interested in stretching beyond a pure underwriting role with a view to moving into a full development underwriter role at some stage in the future.
The job will be Central London based at present.
